(People need to lighten up a bit. I am a very strong Christian myself, but I can appreciate this as art and humour. It isn't mocking anything biblical at all, it is simply bringing humour to a well known story that, for this particular funny version, takes place in a fictional universe. I can see no disrespect is intended or even visable in all honesty. Seriously guys, what do you think fiction is? It's not like you can only believe in this picture or not. The story is real, the humour is just a funny version of it. The art doesn't change what is biblicaly and historically correct, and should in no way alter your personal beliefs. The same goes for whatever you believe in. It's just art. Don't take it to heart. Believe what you believe and just look at everything else with an open minded smile.)
Honestly though... I've been giggling about this for the past ten minutes. SO GREAT.
While I can see and appreciate your artistic talent, I'd like to echo more firmly the substance behind Fizzygerm's comment below: the Annunciation is a most sacred event for serious-minded, practicing Christians -- including Catholics such as myself -- and irrespective of your claim that it takes place in an alternate universe, the reality remains that that universe does not exist and the effect is a disrespectful take on the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Joseph, the Angel Gabriel, and even on God Himself, in each of the three Persons of the Holy Trinity (as all are directly involved in the events directly following the Angel's Annunciation). I respectfully ask you to please remove this work, or at least alter the speech bubbles to something that maintains respect for all whom I've mentioned above. Thank you...
I apologize if I seem forward in saying this, but I don't think that they were trying to be disrespectful, I just think they were making a joke in regards to Supernatural, a show which involves aspects of many different religions and myths. I can understand that it can seem disrespectful, and you are entitled to your opinion and defense of your religion, but I do think that it was not intended to offend anyone.
It isn't mocking anything biblical at all. It's just doing a Joke from within the Supernatural Universe. They didn't mean any disrespect. This takes place in the Supernatural universe, and that's the show's depiction of one of the Angels. Deal with it.
People make jokes about Ebola, which is NOT FUNNY, considering some of my friends live in Dallas. People make jokes about cannibalism, which is NOT FUNNY AT ALL. People make jokes about Terrorism, which is NOT FUNNY at all. People also joke about sex and Rape, which is NOT FUNNY AT ALL IN ANY WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM.
So why did you think that Religion would be exempt from jokes?
Also, have you even WATCHED Supernatural?
(In all honesty, people like you are part of the reason why I'm Agnostic in the first place.)
Oh yes. I've often wondered just how Gabriel handled that mission So many delightful possibilities. And I so like this one I just love Gabe's subtlety (and nice robes design, by the way, I like the gold-and-white combination) and his apparent quick reflex with announcing the news And Chuck!god is great, too
